Changes...

Life has changed a lot with our littlest addition! Here are some of the things that are different at our house these days...
Sophie is much more of a snacker than Chloe was and often wants to nurse every hour or two- including at night! She usually will sleep for one 4-5 hour stretch at night and the rest of the time wants to eat or just sleep next to my skin. Needless to say, this makes for a pretty tired momma!
She also needs much more snuggle time than Chloe did and likes to be held or carried much of the time, including at night. The funny thing is, we noticed both these differences between the girls in the hospital right after Sophia's birth! Lately, we've been bringing her into our bed at the beginning of the night to snuggle and eat until she falls asleep and then transferring her to the bassinet nearby. We don't plan to do this forever, but if it gets us some much needed sleep in these early days... we're not going to fight it!
Something else, that we're trying to change, is that Sophie does not like pacifiers, whereas Chloe started loving her binky in the hospital right away! We keep introducing it and trying diffrerent brands, but not having much luck thus far...
Another difference is that going anywhere takes waaaaaaay longer now. Not only do we have another person to get ready and a diaper bag of gear to pack, but without fail as soon as we are ready to head out the door, Sophie will decide she wants to nurse for 20 minutes, during which time Chloe will have taken off her shoes and socks and jacket and be pulling out toys to play with, and then one or both will need a diaper change.
Despite the sleep deprivation, extra cleaning, planning, time, and patience we now need to have, we couldn't be happier or more thankful! I'm so glad I get to spend my days home with them. Looking at our girls, I feel so blessed! Yes, I'm tired, but my life is full of laughter, baby smell, sticky kisses, and snuggles! We have each other, our health, and this incredible life together- I couldn't ask for anything better! :)
