Our Little Ballerina

Chloe is now attending the Lareen Fender School of Ballet! She has been counting down the weeks until she turned three so she could start ballet classes, but last month we discovered a ballet school nearby where she got to start early! On her first day she was so excited! She kept telling everyone she saw that she was a ballerina, pointing out that she was wearing her leotard, tutu, and ballet slippers, and showing them the moves she was going to use when she danced! :) She looks forward to it so much every week now, enjoys practicing at home for Daddy, and is improving more and more! We are so proud of our little ballerina!

The Binky Fairy...

Ever since she was a tiny baby, in the hospital right after birth, Chloe loved her binky. Once she turned one year old, she was allowed to have it in her bed at nap and bedtime, but not around the house anymore. The plan was that when she turned 2 years old, she would no longer have them at bedtime either.
When she turned two, however, we were about to have a new baby join our family. And then we had a newborn. And then we finished potty training. And then we got busy and didn't think about it for a few months. So, this week, we thought maybe now was a good time to bring up the topic of the 'Binky fairy'. I was prepared for it to be a struggle; tears, emotional devastation, bedtime battles. Nope.
I mentioned to Chloe that maybe soon, if she was ready, the Binky Fairy would come and take away her binkys and leave her a present instead. "Yeah! She's gonna come tonight! And she's gonna take away all my binkys and send them to the babies that don't have none! And then she will bring me a wonderul gift- a Rapunzel dress! A really beautiful gown! I'm a big girl now! I don't need a binky anymore!". Wow. That was easy! Bedtime and naptimes have all been fine since then! No tears or fits, she hasn't even asked for them. I think it was harder for Mommy and Daddy to see her let go of her last bit of babyhood than for her to actually do it! We are so proud of our big girl!

Putting stickers on her little binky bag- 'I'm gonna decorate this really nice for the binky fairy'...

'Look at all these stickers! She's gonna really love it, huh?!'

Chloe's note to the Binky Fairy... I translated...
While we went to get ice cream for dessert, the binky fairy came, took the binkys, and left a gift and a note! We saw her flying towards our house in a cloud of red pixie dust on our way there! When we got home, there was sparkly red pixie dust outside the front door too! :)

The binky fairy took away the binky bag and left a gift and a letter covered in red pixie dust!
